This channel is intended to give back to the Internet community of do-it-yourself (DIY) individuals who want to learn how to fix things on their own. I discuss learnings captured during completion of my own DIY projects as part of my daily life repairing, renovating or building. Many of my hobbies revolve around tools, motorized things (cars, trucks, tractors, boats, industrial grade mowers) and there will be some videos covering home renovations as well.
I am not a professional mechanic or carpenter and am simply offering the "at your own risk" tips that you would want to offer a friend when they are about to embark on a task you just completed. My goal is to share my knowledge on DIY projects so your projects can be completed more efficiently and in a safer manner than an amateur may otherwise achieve without further research. You can leverage my research and save yourself time and headache.
As you will see, I focus on important details but do not heavily edit videos.

DIY Frame Cross Member Welding Repair on Cadillac STS for Cheap
This 2003 STS was in excellent condition except for one end of the rear cross member. A shop quoted $2000 for the part alone and labor would have been expensive due to complexity of the replacement procedure. In the shop we capped the end of the cross member for very low cost and gave this STS new hope for many more years of service.

Custom Wheel Alignment Turn Plate Ramps
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.6 месяцев назад
Have you ever driven up on a ramp only to overshoot it and drive too far? This usually happens when you need to apply too much gas pedal to overcome the height of the ramps. Wheel alignments require getting the vehicle on top of turn plates. This video shows a design for ramps that cause the vehicle to drive up in a staggered approach so only 1 wheel at a time is rising. Most vehicles have enou...

How to Cut A Roll of Vinyl Wrap to Make Stripes For Cheap
Going to attempt this today on my son's 2010 Mazda 3
Just channel lock it and I used a big flathead screw driver and hit the channel locks. It came off Finally. Wasn't easy I admit but wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Chanel locks I had on tight as I could squeeze them
Spray some used motor oil inside that x-member to keep it from rusting.
Actually, used motor oil has corrosive components. I use proper undercoating fluid as demonstrated in the video. This is a better approach in my opinion but to each his own.
I would love to learn how to weld. I have a 1993 Buick Century that is like your car perfect and clean except for a couple of spots. It has similar rust repairs needed. Good video.
Thanks. you can buy a cheap wirefeed flux core welder for cheap and it will handle nearly all automotive welding needs. Then get someone to show you how to do it. If you put the word out "free pizza for someone to give me a 30 min welding lesson" and I bet someone would take you up on it.
Here is another tip. When replacing the filter clean the hole in the transmission with a shot of brake clean so there is no oil and the rubber ring has a better grip. Then use green Lube Gard assemblee goo on the contact points of the filter to the valve body. This will hold the filter in place until you can get the pan on. Put the assemnlee goo in the refrigerator for a few hours to make it extra sticky. This product is made to be used in automatic transmissions and will dissolve in transmission fluid. For some reason Ford could not put a screw in the filter to hold it in place. They probably saved 15 cents per transmission by doing this.😑
I wish I watched this before I broke the screw extractor 😢
Thank you. My car has a different issue. The driver side lock doesn’t lock with the remote. We get around by doing it manually from the back door. Is there any easy fix to it ? The dealer wants too much money to fix it.☹️
Also here is a tip if you are not into transmission fluid waterfalls. Drill a 1/4-inch hole in the bottom of the pan first, then remove the dipstick, and let the fluid drain out into a pan for an hour or two. Then remove the pan, replace the filter, clean the pan and magnet. Plug the hole you drilled with JB weld, let it set up and replace the pan. Refill with the same amount of fluid you drained out. A cleaner job without all the mess.😊
I have watched several of these videos and many comments state that they would drain out 5 1/2 quarts of fluid and have to install 7 quarts of fluid to get the proper fluid level. So does this mean that the factory under filled the transmission? Or is the transmission now being over filled? Kind of odd there could be such a difference. There is some fluid in the filter but not that much. Also, I have found that welders gloves help when checking the fluid level.
A couple of things about chickens and nesting. Yes, they do not mind (possibly even prefer) nesting together. However, if you have a strong pecking order in the flock, have at least one separate box or compartment for those at the bottom of the pecking order. For your nesting box, just the one divider in the middle, would have been fine. Yes, they like to roll other eggs under themselves, this is common. Sort of like an inbuilt habit. The bit of tin you put on the top is a bad idea. They tend to jump up on things, and would therefore cut their feet and get infected.
Good deal. Thanks
Amazing job, I have the same boat. Too bad the triple backflips were off cam.
Thank you. Who designs those things... surely ergonomics and comfort should be big on the list.
Im hoping this works for me because im in the same boat. Thank you for posting the extremely helpful video ☺️👍
This looks like the situation I have now, But my hole is directly underneath the O2 sensor, and the flex pipe is starting to go.😢
I forgot,My car is 13 with skyactiv, if that matters, Does anyone have any ideas for me. I would appreciate any, besides going to the dealership. That's over 4k.
Thanks that was super helpful and I really appreciate the visual demo.
Ypu cant use pressrue treated plwood in an aluminum boat or you will destroy it. This is not a good idea, you are better off using regular pywood than this. But really they make marine geade plywood juat for this purpose, and other than replacing your wood floors with more aluminum, marine pkywood is the only good solution to rotten floors.
I think they adjust these newer headrests for the new gen of kids with forward head posture because of always being on their phones
Thank you, nice 👍
reset the springs. It takes 30 seconds and anyone can do it.
I still think removing the trans line and allowing it to pump out is worthwhile... It was able to pump out a little less than 4 quarts...
My 2020 f250 drives Me f... nuts! The headrest are definitely getting adjusted
Good idea on brake light check
Excellent video!!!As a side note, Bug was heard saying: Hey, Mister, can you please go somewhere else to do your teaching videos??? I'm living up to my pest expectation... Don't make it harder to get inside!!🐞🐞🐞🪲🐛
What the heck is all that clicking noise!!!!???! 😡😡😡
Why didnt you run power to the solenoid to see if it moves in and out?
Just came across your channel 👍 What lower end scanner do you like that can analyze the powerbalance, VCA bank 1&2, etc for troubleshooting?
Next stop Gold Slucing!
American Standard Canadian Cadet Toilet
wow, pretty sure thats the same engine as my Ford 1320!
i believe pressure treat wood will eat up a boat, so just use plain ply wood an put resin on top to make it water proof.
Super
Car
what are your thoughts on just putting the 3/4 plywood all the way to the back? I have another soft spot over the gas tank. it's not terrible, i'm 300 pounds and i can walk on it but it definitely flexes and the carpet and gel coat on top are rubbed away exposing the old wood.
yes... that should work fine. just make sure you don't screw into the tank or you will have a whole other problem on your hands.
I would replace it all while you're there.
cheapass crap made under brand names in China
Thanks for showing the cable routing, and pointing to everything. Put Rhino 700 in the video title if you can, it should get you more views!
Thanks for the idea! i updated the video title.
I took my glass apart and when I did the springs fell out . Any clue how to get them back attached to hinge . Or would you have to replace . Nothing looks broke just spings fell off so door isn't closing at all. 😒
yikes... try to find online photos of how the springs connect. I did not have that issue.
I just love how you literally skip the hardest part to do in the whole job! I'd bet 900 of the thousand views you've got are to watch how you installed the snap ring and you skip it and show it done and explain how you did it that's not how you make videos of how to do something!!!!
@9:10 i explained exactly how I did it. It would be enough information for some people and not enough for others.
@mrdiyguy123 RUclips isnt the place for an audio book......
Nice!
Thanks!
This is the best alignment video i can find, you're the man.
thanks for the encouragement! Don't under estimate the importance of a few small kind words.
I had a broken wheel on the bottom of a slider wheel. The wheel is spring loaded with coiled spring. I could not find this type on the tube. However, this video helped in adjusting the top and bottom tension screws well enough to operate the slider smoothly. Thank you very much for this video.
glad it helped you
I thought I was the only one that was complaining about this horrible headrest design 😅
nope... you are not alone on that one...
I like it! For the older boats that aren’t worth dumping tons of money into this is the way to go.
For the amount of work, just get a new sway bar with new links and bushings unless you really don't value your time. Boss 302 set for the rear with already mounted links and new bushings is $150-175 and comes complete.
oh i absolutely replaced them with new parts... but I wanted to drive the car that day and didn't want to listen to the clunking...
Nice watching you work thru that. Any update? I would have thought that 12” of runway would let the egg build up too much momentum to not break the eggs
It still works perfectly. sometime an egg gets hung up between 2 adjacent nesting boxes. It certainly broke the habit of one of my chickens eating eggs. The angle is mild enough that the eggs don't crack when they roll away and come to a stop.
Nice job.
You did well removing the bend, however the inside bead where the rubber tire bead meets the aluminum wheel needs inspection and possibly a rasp file or emery cloth rubbed completely around the repaired area otherwise mounting a tire on an uneven and rough surface e will surely create a slow leak that will empty the air in your tire in a couple days!
In my case, the rim did not lose air after the bend was straightened but I agree what you say is good advice.
I need to make a U shape but more like no rounded ends all 90* degree so it can go from the front of the house gutter immediately around the house (1” away) but it’s a 90* degree corner & all the bendy ones don’t turn sharp enough since I buried the corrugated pipe up against the house how can I do this they don’t sell this piece I’ve been looking for months
Excellent video. Thank you.
Just dumb, without a solid measurement, a Story stick as a guide to show how far. So sick of eyeballers/ 150 celcius is a joke also not even enough to bother paper. Just no experience might as well be cold Propane to 700 F. Pressure of a jack is less harmful/ Fracture as you may
